1.      What theme do the following have in common: Marx, Mike LeFevre, Connie from
Lady Chatterley’s Lover
, and Gandhi? Explain this common theme and how your awareness of it will help you in the business world.
2.      When did the idea of management as a science develop? How has it developed since then? Identify some key people and their contributions to the science of management.
[Give names of authors, titles of readings, dates, and places.]
3.      How should a business balance profit maximization with social and ethical responsibilities?
(Note: You can have whatever opinion you’d like. The important part of your answer is how you support that opinion with specific facts and concepts from the course.)
4.
Pick two cultures that have differing attitudes toward the profit motive. Explain how they contrast. Refer to cultures described in this course.
[Do not use the word “culture” metaphorically. Follow the definition of “culture” used in professional parlance, just as we have done throughout this course.  Note 1: capitalism, communism, socialism are ideologies, not cultures. Note 2: build your case on critical thinking and facts, not on stories you may have grown up with. Avoid describing your own personal travels, as fascinating as they may be to you personally, they took place before and outside the scope of this course. There is no way for anyone (beside yourself) to validate any analysis that you may assert from them. Besides, any travels you may have done were accomplished without the benefit of critical thinking as explained in this course.
