EDEC303 AT1: Children’s experience resource file (Due Week 6) (2000-word equivalent) Students compile and analyse an organised and open-ended resource collection suitable for use in the planning and provision of experiences for young children. The Resource Collection is divided into key learning areas. There should be a selection of materials, aids, ideas, and resources for all age groups, birth to 5 years and integrated lesson plans and activities utilizing different resources. Assessment takes account of standard of presentation and lesson plan using a designated resource for a particular age group. Description Open ended resources enable children to play freely. They are objects that have no rules to follow, use or function. They are raw materials that can be used to build or to create or to combine to make something new. The key learning areas for this assignment are: • Physical movement • Language skills – multilingualism • Mathematics • Music, arts and drama • Diversity The resource collection should be organised to demonstrate your understanding of 1) integrated approaches to curriculum 2) emergent approaches to curriculum 3) inclusivity in ECE 4) multiculturalism / multilingualism in ECE 5) connections with the natural world You can nominate more than one approach in your lesson plans. Please don’t nominate all of them in one plan. Suggested structure: • Divide your resource file into four parts (500 words each) • Describe each of the resources in detail (you can provide photos where needed) • Include 2 lesson plans in each part show how the resources can be used (use the lesson planning template provided) • Clearly explain in your lesson plan how resources support the selected approach to curriculum (from 1-5 above) and a focus on one of the key learning areas. Submit as one document through Turn-it-in on ExO.
