Min 50 words. You did a great job explaining this. The fact that amendments can be made without a parent being present is a lifesaver to most parents. My son had an IEP from 1st grade-10th grade and anytime an amendment was made, I was so thankful that I didn’t have to take off work for another meeting. One thing I read when I was doing research on this on this was that many schools make amendments to an IEP and just send home something for the parents to sign without ever consenting with the parent. This is ridiculous to me! I think it extremely important for schools to remember that anytime something is changed in an IEP, ALL stakeholders should be in agreement. comment as you see fit
