Instructions for Writing Information Ethics in the News Assignment
Both your information ethics in the news article and its summary must be handed in. Incomplete assignments will not be accepted. These should be stapled together with your name on the summary and the summary being the front page of the packet you submit.
Your article must be on a topic in information ethics; nothing else counts.
You will need to identify explicitly the name of the ethical issue in information with which your article is concerned. For example, “privacy,” “network security,” “intellectual property,” “treats to democracy” are a few of the examples of topics that your article might be about. Not doing this will cause you to lose 1 point.
Do not submit articles on medical ethics, governmental ethics, business ethics, engineering ethics, police ethics, or legal ethics—to mention a few of the alternative possibilities that are wrong for this assignment. Submitting an article on anything other topic but one in business ethics will make your submission worth 0 points.
Be sure to give a summary that accurately summarizes the central points of the newspaper article you submit. Failure to do so will cause a deduction of 1 or 2 points depending on how incomplete the summary is.
