Erik Erikson’s psychosocial development, called Trust vs. Mistrust. This stage occurs from birth to 18 months old. The conflict faced during this stage is the dependency on others for care and love. If good care and love are received, trust is developed, leading to a sense of safety and security in the world. However, if adequate care and love are lacking, distrust and fear towards the world may arise. What aspects of previous stages do we see playing out in this stage?
