An actual solar cell has internal resistances that affect the behavior of the circuit. These can be modeled as a single shunt resistance Rp in parallel with the diode, and another resistance Rs in series with the external load. Derive the modified ideal diode equation in the presence of the resistance

  • The isothermal compressibility of a fluid is the relative change of volume with pressure at constant

The isothermal compressibility of a fluid is the relative change of volume with pressure at constant temperature β = −(1/V)∂ V/∂p|T . Qualitatively describe and sketch the compressibility of water as a function of temperature from 0 ◦C to 1000 ◦C, at a pressure of 1 atm and at the critical pressure pc ∼= 22.06 MPa. What is the compressibility at the phase transition from liquid to vapor?

As a way of summarizing their learning in this course, students will write an eight-page, double-spaced paper that provides a socio-cultural context for their experience by reviewing relevant literature. For this project students will choose a theme that has been particularly meaningful, pervasive, challenging, or troubling in their personal life story and is especially relevant to their experience as an adolescent. In the first part of this paper, students will take a more personal approach to their final project and tell their story in the first person, discussing their personal experience of this theme in depth. This portion of the essay should be about a third of the paper—for example, 2.5-3 pages of an eight-page paper. In the second part of this project, students will provide a socio-cultural context for their experience by reviewing relevant literature. For instance, if the first part of the paper is about struggles with binging on food, the second part might discuss the literature on the standards of beauty set up for adolescent women, the role the media plays in perpetuating these standards, the importance of peer pressure, the importance of women stifling their feelings to maintain the status quo in their social systems, and how women are taught to equate food with nurturance.
Students should complete some preliminary reading for their paper early in the quarter. During the fourth week of the course, they will submit to their instructor a one-page proposal of their research paper. The proposal should suggest their topic, propose an arguable thesis, and give the instructor some idea of how students intend to research and develop their thesis. This proposal is not graded, but students should approach it seriously as it can greatly enhance their chances for writing a successful paper.
In their papers, students should combine their own thoughtful analysis with ideas and information found in a minimum of three sources other than the textbook. Therefore, as in any scholarly writing, students should not merely copy information from another author, but use evidence to support the contentions they have drawn from their findings and critically analyze related literature – this paper has to be an analytical paper, not a summary of readings. This paper must meet APA requirements of format and style. Students must cite the sources of all ideas, facts, and information used that are not their own, even if they have put the information into their own words. Failure to do so is plagiarism, even if the oversight is unintentional.

Zirconium tungstate is an unusual material because its volume shrinks with an increase in temperature for the temperature range 0.3 K to 1050 K (where it decomposes). In fact , the volumetric coefficient of thermal expansion is – 26.4 times 10 – 6 K. Determine the ratio V/V0 for the above mentioned temperature range. Express your answer in percent. – 5.28% – 3.59% – 2.77% – 1.90% – 1.04% I tried using the Delta L = ~ L Delta T formula. This went into the formula – 26.4 times 10 – 6( 1049.7), and ended up with – 2.77%, which was wrong. What was my error?
